Hawai'i Department of Land and Natural Resources Wildlife Sanctuaries

The Hawai'i Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) has an online document "Rules Regulating Wildlife Sanctuaries" with Exhibits at the end that list which Sanctuaries are closed, restricted or available for commercial activities. §13-126-9 and §13-126-10 describe permits and the permit applicaiton process for activities within the Sanctuaries.

Maui Sanctuaries have banned geocaching.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH)

Caches are not allowed on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) and any other military installation requiring military ID or sponsorship to access the secure base. Reference the Geocaching Guidelines for restricted areas.

National Parks

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park allows EarthCaches with local ranger permission.

Haleakala National Park allows EarthCaches with a special use permit.

WAIHE'E COASTAL DUNES AND WETLANDS REFUGE (Maui)

The Refuge is owned by The Hawaiian Land Trust.  GCNEFC was archived by Groundspeak at the request of the caretaker, so until a geocaching policy with the Land Trust is established by local geocachers, no new geocaches will be allowed.
