Protected Land Area Database
This database has details of land areas where specific permission is required or where caching is not allowed. Mapping resources are shown. The most useful is MAGIC and there is a very useful link called MagicMapIt! that you can enter any coordinates into to check a location.
Click the Land area column to sort alphabetically.

Caches will not be allowed within the boundaries of any archaeological site whether scheduled or not without permission from the owner/manager of the site. Sites are scheduled by English Heritage in the UK, CADW in Wales and RCHMS in Scotland.
The OS maps do not show all the areas and are not necessarily very accurate. The reviewers have access to detailed maps for CADW Wales (but not Scotland) which for licence reasons cannot be made publicly available.
The MAGIC map is the easiest way to check for England using the quick MagicMapIt! link.
Guideline: Inappropriate or Non-publishable Placement - Cache placement is in an area that is highly sensitive to additional foot and vehicular traffic including but not limited to archaeological sites, historical sites and cemeteries. |
