Protected Land Area Database
This database has details of land areas where specific permission is required or where caching is not allowed. Mapping resources are shown. The most useful is MAGIC and there is a very useful link called [MagicMapIt]! that you can enter any coordinates into to check a location. For more information on using the MAGIC map and links please visit the Resource Site for UK & Ireland Geocachers www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk - page on Click the Land area column to sort alphabetically.

Local Nature Reserves |
MAGIC (England only) & Natural England Interactive Map |
Nature reserves are special areas created for wildlife that may be environmentally sensitive locations. Many are owned/managed by local wildlife trusts who may have agreements in the GAGB Landowner database which may include maps showing the reserves so you can see where they are. Some trusts do not allow geocaching at all. The Resource Site for UK & Ireland Geocachers www.follow-the-arrow.co.uk, has more information about these reserves. |

England Interactive Map (England). Scottish Natural Heritage SSSI Interactive map. |
In England such sites are scheduled by Natural England, for Wales it is the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and Scotland the Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). SSSI's have legal protection in the UK and land owners/managers have a legal responsibility to ensure such locations are not damaged. Therefore permission for caches in SSSI's is a requirement. Local councils may also be involved and may be able to help with permission. |

RSPB Reserves |
MAGIC (UK) |
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds have given a variable response to requests for permission and each area seems to handle requests differently. You may or may not be successful in getting permission. There is no one agreement for the RSPB. |
