When placing a geocache in CT, you should provide basic information in a reviewer note that includes the type of container used, a description of how it is hidden, and the name and contact info for the person granting permission for the hide. The more info you provide, the smoother the review process and the more quickly your cache can be published.

Should you plan on placing a cache in one of the following areas (if allowed), please ensure you follow their requests prior to submitting the cache.

Appalachian Trail Corridor – no geocaches allowed.

Aspetuck Land Trust - Earthcaches with permission only [ -http://www.aspetucklandtrust.org/ ]. 


Bethel Land Trust properties – land manager approval required. Details at: [  http://www.bethellandtrust.org/propertygeocaches.html ] 


Cemeteries - It is illegal to be in a Connecticut cemetery from 1/2 hour after sunset until 1/2 hour before sunrise. If your cache is in a cemetery, please note this restriction in the description section of the cache page as a reminder for geocachers. 

Connecticut State Property (State Forests and Parks) – permit required. The best way is to send it as an attachment via email, to the address on the following linkAttach copy of both sides of the permit to a reviewer note on the cache page prior to submission. Guilford Land Conservation Trust properties - permission of the GLCT Board of Directors required.

McLean Game Refuge Property, Granby – no geocaches allowed.

Newtown Forest Association properties – permit required. Attach copy of the permit to a reviewer note on the cache page prior to submission. The name and coordinates of the geocache must be written clearly on the permit.

Northwest Park, Windsor, CT – permission required. Contact: Ford Parker, Manager Northwest Park, parker@townofwindsorct.com. Provide him With the coordinates and a description of the location of the geocache.     Attach written permission to a reviewer note on the cache page prior to submission.

Schools - if you place It is not advisable to place geocaches on or near school property for multiple reasons, but if you have a strong reason for placing a cache on or near school grounds, written permission of the principal or superintendent is required. This written permission must be attached to a reviewer note on the cache page prior to publication. 

Shelton Land Conservation Trust, lower part of the Birchbank open space – no geocaches allowed.

US Army Corp of Engineers Property – permit required. Permit must state the name and coordinates of the geocache and be attached to a reviewer note on the cache page prior to submission. Details at: [  http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/lewisville/faq.asp#geocachingpolicy ] 

White Memorial Foundation Property, Litchfield – permission required.
