Dear cachers
On June 26, 2021, the Federal Council announced further easing steps.
These concern, among other things, public events and private meetings.
Geocaching events are clearly not public events (these are e.g. theater, concerts, cinema, etc. that are advertised with posters and / or in the media).
For private meetings, the person limit is 30 indoors and 50 outdoors.
Data from 2019 shows that most events have more than 30 participants, so we have still decided not to allow indoor events.
On the other hand, we decided to publish outdoor events again, as many events were below the number of participants of 50 people, even if there were some that exceeded this number.
However, there are a few things to consider:
The guidelines make it clear that the owners are responsible for ensuring that local restrictions on gatherings are observed.
The reviewers cannot accept responsibility for compliance with the applicable rules, this responsibility lies solely with you as the owner.
You have to ensure that the currently applicable requirements (distances, maximum number of participants, etc.) are complied with and, if this is not possible, cancel and archive the event.
You have to record the full names and addresses as well as telephone numbers of all participants so that you can make them available to the authorities for the pursuit of a possible chain of infection.
You have to keep this data for 14 days and then destroy it.
You are not allowed to use this data for anything else.
A list of will attends is not enough.
You have to point out the collection of this information in the listing.
It is not permitted to restrict participation to vaccinated / recovered / tested people or those with a Corona certificate.
It is also not permitted to limit the number of participants.
It is up to you to design your event in such a way that the upper limit of 50 people is not exceeded.
A protection concept is not necessary for private meetings.
We discussed for a long time whether we wanted to wait any longer with the publication of outdoor events.
Based on the feedback from the community and after careful consideration, we decided that - as long as the owners ensure that the events remain below 50 people - is a justifiable opening step.
As the event owner, you have the experience of how big your events were in the past and we ask you to take this into account when planning events and to design them so
that the upper limit can be adhered to.
Should we have to restrict outdoor events again or should indoor events be possible again, we will, as always, orientate ourselves in the Swiss country wiki as well as in the social media and in the Swiss geocaching forum.

Dear Cachers
As of 26 June 2021 the federal council communicated new easements on the covid restrictions.
Among others, there are new rules for public events and private gatherings.
Geocaching events are clearly not public events (such events are concerts, plays, cinema, etc that are advertised on billboards and / or in the media).
The limit of participants for private gatherings has been set to 30 people indoors and 50 people outdoors.
Data from 2019 shows that most events have more than 30 participants.
We have therefore decided to not yet start publishing indoor events.
On the other hand, we decided to start again publishing outdoor events, as many events stay below 50 participants, even if there are some that were far beyond that number.
However, there are a few things to consider:
The guidelines clearly state that event owners are responsible to ensure that local restrictions are abided by.
The reviewers cannot be responsible for the conformance with the currently valid restrictions.
This responsibility lies fully with you as the event owner.
It is your responsibility to make sure that official restrictions (such as distances, maximum number of participants, etc) are met and if this is no longer possible to cancel and archive the event.
You need to register the full names, addresses and phone numbers of all participants, in order to support the authorities, should an infection chain need to be identified.
You need to keep this information for 14 days, after this time you need to destroy this list.
You must not use this information for any other purpose.
A list of Will Attends is not sufficient.
You need to mention the gathering of this information in your event listing.
it is not allowed to restrict the participation of an event to vaccinated / recovered / tested people or those with a covid-certificate.
It is also not allowed to limit the number of participants.
It is your job to create the event in a way to ensure that it stays below the number of 50 people.
A protection concept is no longer required for private gatherings.
We have discussed this for a long time, debating whether we should still wait publishing outdoor events.
Based on feedback from the community and after long deliberation we decided to go ahead as we feel that this is a reasonable step towards normality - provided the owners ensure that events stay below 50 people.
You as owners have the experience to know how many participants usually showed up for your events and we ask you to take this into consideration when planning your events to make sure the limit is observed.
Should it be necessary to restrict the publication of outdoor events again or should indoor events become possible, we will inform you on the Regional Wiki for Switzerland and on social media as well as the Swiss Geocaching Forum.
